An enclave is home to many expat favourites, including great fashion stores! Here we look Rue Madame at Cluny Court
Ariane Zagury aspired to create a contemporary women’s fashion line in Hong Kong, where she was based, so she stepped away from the world of finance to do just that. Luckily for us, she has since expanded the business to Singapore.
Armed with a strong knowledge of textiles from her family’s history in textile retailing, Ariane founded Rue Madame Fashion Group in 2010, and grew her business into an entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with. .
Today, Ariane operates over 60 outlets in Hong Kong, mainland China and here in Singapore. The fashion group stocks brands that include both contemporary and high-end fashion names – among them American Vintage, Phase Eight, Sweaty Betty, Hobbs, Whistles, Gerard Darel and also the brand’s namesake label, Rue Madame .
Over the past few years, Ariane has also become a trusted fashion advisor, determined to find the perfect look. More than running a business, she says she enjoys creating custom wardrobes that are compatible with her clients’ lifestyles; quality and service are priorities, but the accessibility of products is just as important, as well as a reasonable price.
One of Ariane’s strengths is a constant attention to detail in the clothes and brands she chooses to work with. it’s no surprise that rue Madame attracts the attention of well-known international brands. Most importantly, she recognizes that the perfect look isn’t something to wear once, but instead focuses on high-quality, contemporary pieces that can create timeless, seasonless styles.
In March this year, Rue Madame Fashion Group launched its first online fashion outlet – The Eastlet. It is Hong Kong’s only online fashion outlet selling high-end brands from around the world – and the products are also available to Singapore shoppers.
The Eastlet is a collective made up of over a hundred different brands, including clothing, shoes and accessories. It is a shopping platform that strives to pay close attention to the unique culture and characteristics of each brand.
Going into and beyond the pandemic, Ariane says she has relied heavily on e-commerce to showcase her products. She keeps abreast of fashion trends and her customers’ desires – both of which are constantly changing – and has seen the Singapore-based e-commerce market, in particular, grow rapidly in this time.
In her personal life, Ariane has four children whom she is grateful to have by her side during the pandemic – with her mother. Family, for her, trumps everything; it’s a stimulating side that shows in the way she treats her team, the company and its products.
Lady Street is at #02-11 Cluny Court, 501 Bukit Timah Road. Call 6463 5347 or visit ruemadame.com for more information.
